redken hair cleansing cream: review

Redken Hair Cleansing Cream - RRP £13.65

Hello everyone. I've had a weird week; Tuesday was awful for a few reasons and then I started my new job on Wednesday so my brain is a bit all over the place. I'm working in a completely different industry and having done the same thing for so long it's been a bit of a shock as I've got so much to learn. Can't really complain though because that's exactly what I wanted. I'm really excited for the next few months and everyone I've met so far is lovely. It will probably mean a bit less time to focus on blogging though, but I have a few posts planned and pics taken etc so I'll be as active as I can!

Enough babbling, on to the review!

I bought this product because it had ridiculously good reviews on Makeupalley. I'd never really got on with clarifying shampoos as my hair is so ridiculously dry and coarse; they'd just dry my hair out more. For that reason I ummed and aaahed over getting it for ages and decided to go for it one day (a payday, no doubt). Read on for my thoughts!

(almost) fool proof poached eggs

Poached eggs have always been my favourite. Unfortunately, for years I was incapable of cooking them without ballsing them up. I simply could not get my head around it. And with so much conflicting advice on how to best do it; can you blame me? Thankfully, I've now got it pretty much down pat, using a combination of methods, which may seem like a bit of a fuss, but believe me, it's worth it. Look at that yolk.

I'm aware that there's already a ludicrous number of articles and blog posts with various tips on how to become a poacher extraordinaire, but that's kind of the point of this, so bear with me. I've had to dig through these tips and have combined them into a method which works for me 9 times out of 10.

bouncy hair with Dirtylooks HK hair extensions and Sleep In Rollers

I've worn HK hair extensions since they were known as Headkandy and sold on their own site by the same name. In the last few years they've moved over to dirtylooks.com but the quality hasn't changed, they're the nicest extensions I've ever worn and are lovely and thick.

As my hair is naturally so thick I have buy two sets at a time; what I'm wearing at the moment is just under two, as I cut the ones I was wearing at the top of my head to blend in with my layers, and they're too short now that my hair is finally growing. My hair is naturally just past my shoulders, and I wear the 16-18in extensions.

I can't wear extensions straight because they don't blend well with my natural hair if it's humid and starts going a  bit frizzy, but I was getting bored of just wearing them waved with a wand all the time, so I dug out my Sleep in Rollers and thought I'd give them a try.

There's two ways I use them on my extensions, and I love both effects.

relax: some things to do to stop the worry cycle and ease anxiety

Happy Monday, I hope everyone's good! This is a scheduled post as I'll be getting ready to meet my new colleague for lunch ahead of starting next week :) Another slightly different post from me today.

I'm a worrier. I always have been; as a child I was constantly on edge about being told off. As I've grown up I've got more confidence in myself but I've had to work hard at not allowing the worst scenarios to pop into my head, and when they do, not allowing them to spiral out of control. As I've been job hunting and having lots of interviews recently, I've been  panicking and overthinking what I'll say, what was said etc.
I commented on the lovely Alice Gibbs' post here with my tips of things to relax as she's having a bit of a rough time with worrying at the moment, and I thought I may as well do a proper post on it!

not a recipe: avocado and bacon toast with smoked paprika

Bit of a different post today, but as food is as much of an interest of mine as beauty, I've decided to do the odd post on it. It'll probably consist of recipes, restaurant reviews (when I can afford to go!) but mostly my favourite things to eat. This is one of those things. I'm also very aware that my food photography must improve, but I wanted to eat it as quickly as possible.

I'm obsessed with avocados; they're healthy, filling and bloody delicious.

I spent Friday night at my boyfriend's house for the first time in a while, and he always has a go at me because despite being in charge of cooking, I never have any idea what I actually want to eat. This time I knew, however, as I hadn't had an avocado for weeks. I ate it for dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday.

nail routine for long lasting manicures and strong nails

China Glaze Are You Jelly? and Models Own Southern Lights

I went back to acrylics for about 2 years whilst I wasn't blogging, and had them all taken off last summer. One thing that's really irritating about natural nails is that the polish doesn't last anywhere near as long! Those two things combined have lead me to develop a very rigorous process when it comes to my at home manicures. I thought I'd share the products I use along with some general tips to help your manicures last longer whilst strengthening your nails!

Now this is LONG, and some of it seems like common sense/you'll have been doing for years, but I wanted to compile it all into one post.

Using the following process and products helps my manicures last about a week with minor tip wear. I do usually get bored and switch it up before the week's out, however.

back again!

Well hello there!

It's been a while, hasn't it? THREE whole years since my last post, mental.

Lots has changed in my life since I started this blog, and after a few weeks having not used it I got more and more scared to come back. I've wanted to since though, so, here I am!

I'll do a more beauty based post at some point soon, but for the moment I just wanted to let you all know (if anyone still reads this beyond the bloody spambots) that I'm still alive.

My hair is back to its (mostly) natural colour now as you can see here:

And I'm still obsessed with painting my nails, as you can see here (click for leopard tutorial):

So, beauty posts to come, I AM BACK. Anything in particular anyone would like? I'm considering another empties/mini reviews post as I haven't done one for literally years.
